Scriptures: Exodus 2:11-15
The wilderness is a spiritually dry and desolate place: a place where we see no fruit of our ministry. Its a time of doubt and wonder. The only one left to talk to is God Himself.
So whats the purpose of this time? It helps us appreciate what we already have in life. It allows for us to discern why we have a relationship with the Lord. It strips us of the wisdom and ways of the world and teaches us that ways of God's spirit, which are different than our own.
Moses is a perfect example. Moses wanted to help his brethren, the Jews. He killed an Egyptian, which was the world's way of dealing with injustice. He fled to the wildnerness and ran from Pharoah. Moses spent forty years in the wilderness before God called him to be a deliverer. Forty years shepherding sheep. Forty years striping Moses of all His Egyptian concepts. The wilderness test is a time when we learn valuable spiritual truths. A special class in the school of God's spirit. We move away from worldly concepts and embrace the leading of the spirit.
Ask yourself: Am I in a spiritually dry and desolate place? Does nothing seem to produce fruit? Then God is the one you need to talk to!
