Scriptures: Mark 5: 25-34
There is a concept that many believe in, it’s called fate: "the unalterable course of destiny, the development of events beyond a person’s control." People say things like: “it’s destined to happen.”
What you are believing is, “I am a victim of circumstances that cannot be altered.”
We read in the Bible about a woman with a bleeding disorder for 12 years. She had suffered physically, emotionally, mentally, financially and from society.
But she determined that this plague was not her fate. Through faith (taking a risk) in Jesus she broke through many barriers and she experienced a complete restoration of health and entered a new level faith.
Its time to challenge the concept of fate: there 3 simple acts of faith that can alter the course of your destiny.
1) Wholeness and healing begins with hearing.
She heard about Jesus and she heard about the possibility, the healing, the barriers that were being broken down and the message of hope He was speaking. "Faith cometh by hearing, hearing the Word of God."
2. You must go where Jesus is: She came to Jesus and she responded to what she heard and pushed her way through the crowd. She believed that Jesus could alter her situation and that she would no longer be bound by circumstance, culture, where she came from, society and tradition.
3. Faith is the hand that touched God. She touched Jesus and a fatalistic barrier was broken. When you touch Jesus a surge of His power will wash over you.
Are you ready to Break some Barriers?
Scriptures: Isaiah 64:1-4
God was acting and working on your behalf in 2017! God did things for you that you could not do for yourself. He protected you from things that you will never know about. God loved you every day in 2017.
Jesus protected you from Yourself in 2017
There were things that seemed like a loss but were actually for your gain. 1 Corinthians 1: 8 explains it this way: "He kept you blameless. He kept you from future guilt."
Jesus gave you deeper Revelation in 2017.
You now have greater understanding of the things of God than ever before. He overlooked your complaining. He stopped negative whirlwinds. Jesus provided you some new points of view on life. You had the opportunity to have a different outlook about your life.
Jesus gave you a greater Vision in 2017.
Some of the trials you faced in 2017 have led to your advancement: you have progressed in the realm of spiritual authority and comprehension. A Good motto for 2018: “Replace complaining with praying!”
Do you ever feel like you cannot get a break in life?
Avoid the "Eeyore" life approach living with your head down and constant moaning. God is a God of grace and he is just in his generosity. God is fair! The reality is that things are not always fair in this life, but your future is not defined by your bad breaks.
You can begin the path to a Breakthrough today.
A breakthrough is not something we sit around waiting for.
Trust that God has your best interest at hand: “We reap what we sow." Meaning of reap: "to receive (a reward or benefit) as a consequence of one's own actions." Everyday matters – if we sow grumbling, complaining, doubt, fear what are we going to receive? Change your outlook: sow faith, words of encouragement, obedience to God, and plant the positive.
Begin a spiritual shift which leads to a breakthrough.
Control your thought life: Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV) “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” What are you dwelling on in your mind? Are you sowing seeds of doubt into your mind?
Line up your thoughts with the Word of God. Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Your thoughts have power to enable a breakthrough.
Create an atmosphere of belief: Jesus’ hometown was a town of unbelief and he could only do a few miracles there.
We find on one occasion he asked people to leave the room He was in. Wh? Unbelief. They laughed at him because He spoke of the power of God.
Believing is your starting block for a breakthrough.
Take action! James 2:26: "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." Faith needs deeds. Deeds are actions that are performed intentionally.
Become intentional: take actions on purpose. Pray - we have not because we ask not. Read the Word of God on a daily bases. Wash your mind with God’s word. Use appropriate language. Sow words of faith. Live an honest life. God blesses honesty.
Actions open the doors to your breakthrough.
Scriptures: Ezekiel 37: 1-14
Our Goal: Is to move from Survival Mode to Revival Mode: In Survival mode we seem to move from one difficult situation to another and spend a lot of time worrying about or fearing what might happen. Stress is overwhelming and we spend time always dealing with the urgent. Everything is a reaction never proactive.
Many Christians serve God in a survival mode state.
They are in the church but not of the church. They are too spiritually weak for excitement and are too worn out for wonder. They indeed say. “Our bones are dry, our hope is lost and we ourselves are cut off.” They are controlled by suspicion and all of this leads to spiritual disengagement.
Jesus wants your daily life to be meaningful and full of hidden beauties, the Word says it this way: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control."
It’s time to move into revival mode: Revival means to come alive, a resurrection. The Lord asked Ezekiel, “Son of man can these bones live?”
God always has purpose when He asks a question. He told Ezekiel to prophesy.: "Prophesy to these bones – you shall live." The bones represent lost hope. "Prophesy to the breath – Breathe on these that they shall live." Breath represents the Holy Spirit. "Prophesy to my people – I will put my spirit in you and you shall live." Only God can give you the life you really want.
There are steps we can take to move into a revival mode: We must have a burning desire to please God. Faith and faithfulness pleases God. Become a person of worship. A true worshipper. Dry bones hear the Word of the Lord.
Change and pursue true repentance. Switch to a higher gear: never be satisfied-always push your personnel boundaries.
Scriptures: Joshua 3: 1-4 & Isaiah 43: 1-2
The unknown can be scary. Many times the Christian faith takes us into uncharted territory. In the Bible, the Lord told Joshua; “you have not passed this way before.” But Joshua was told to follow the Ark of the Covenant (which was a representation God’s presence) and then he “would know they way he must go."
How can we as Christians face the future with confidence? Believe God’s promises about the our future: Jesus said: “I go to prepare a place for you.” Our future is not unknown: fear not he has redeemed you. You are His! Focus your attention on the good that God has promised you: when you pass through the waters, He will be with you! When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned: your future rests in God's hands! It's time to believe!
It's time to overcome the fear of abandonment: abandonment cause painful messages to play out in our minds. Things like: you are not important or you are not of value. Abandonment can cause excessive controlling behaviors and commitment issues! God loves you so much: He could never leave you, its promised: “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Enable the Power of the Holy Spirit: the Holy Spirit gives us power to live, to act and to respond. "But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit". Jude 1: 20. "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world". 1 John 4:4. The Holy Spirit in you is greater than the unknown.
Trust your unknown future to the all-knowing God.
Your future is secure in Jesus and He will never leave you.
Turn on the power of the Holy Ghost – building yourself up.
Jesus is constantly speaking to his people: to hear Jesus’ voice you must know what it sounds like.
"As humans we have four Internal Voices:
How can we hear Jesus' voice with all these other voices internally and externally speaking at once?
Scriptures: James 2:23
People have a universal need for friendship. The Bible states; “2 are better than 1," and everybody needs a friend.
Traits of Friendship
Abraham was the friend of God. Abraham was the specifically given this title. What does it take to be a friend of God? Abraham had his priorities right. Abraham’s priorities were not his property or possessions: God told him to leave his country and Abraham left. Lot wanted the best land and Abraham accepted whatever God would give to him.God blessed Abraham because of his cooperation.
Abraham knew how to talk to God. Abraham and God did not always agree. God decided to destroy Sodom & Gomorrah. Abraham reasoned with God. Good friends can disagree but still be on the same side: Abraham refused to be disagreeable. God listened to Abraham, because Abraham listened to God.
Abraham followed God’s direction. Abraham’s faith took over where reason left off. Faith helps us complete the bridge over the unknown. Abraham believed God would keep his promises and trusted God’s guidance. God & Abraham had a strong friendship because they both were willing to sacrifice all.
If you need a real friend his name is Jesus. He gave His life to be your friend. When you are sad, He can cheer you up.
When you are glad, He celebrates your success. “Jesus a friend that sticks closer than a brother.”
Scriptures: Psalms 40: 1-3
A life juncture is a distinct period of time in a person’s life. A critical time period which could have a tremendous impact on a person’s future: it’s when we cross the bridge of transition. Its a new life chapter: today there is a new era knocking at your door.
At new life junctures we must also endure endings.
Old patterns can make it difficult to move into our new blessings and it’s very easy to become accustomed to the way things are in our life. Old patterns can block our future blessings.
At this new juncture it is your time to take things back or to receive new things. It' s time for: a new life in Jesus Christ, new dreams, financial security, lasting relationships, renewed health and a refreshed smile. Jesus wants to put a new song in your heart!
It's time to Loosen your grip on the past. We can spend too much time living in the internal world of difficult memories. We need to face the finality of endings and remember that our story is bigger than our bad memories. By giving the past to Jesus, we open doors to the future.
Create new life patterns. New life patterns require simple obedience and restoration. Jesus restores life, security & hope. Are you living the life Jesus promised you?
Trust God with the next part of your story. Take on the role of explorer. Your life has purpose, your story is important, your dreams count, your voice matters, you were born again to make an impact. When God sees you doing your part, developing what he has given you, then he will do his part and open doors that no man can shut.
God wants you to have a better life, a true life and wonderful life! The old is gone. The new has come.
Now is your time.
Scriptures: Matthew 10: 28-31
"Sparrows are the most plentiful, common bird in all the world. Their world population is estimated at 540 Million." They are not known for their beauty or sweet songs and not many people spend time watching sparrows fly. But God counts every one of them. Not a single sparrow is forgotten by God: God cares for the most common, unnoticed birds.
Jesus also numbers the hairs on your head. " Blondes have around 145,000 hairs. Those with Black / Brown hair have around 120,000 and red heads have around 90,000 hairs on their heads." God cares about everything. He knows things about you that you will never know. He thinks about each one of us so many times a day that the number exceeds the grains of sand on a beach.
Jesus is taking care of things that we do not even notice. Nothing is a surprise to God. Nothing can stop his purpose. Nothing is a setback to God. Nothing is beyond his control. We are only see bits & pieces of God’s plan for our life.
Sparrows don’t worry they know God is watching.
Jesus cares about the tiniest details. The God of the large is the same God of the small. Jesus notices when a sparrow falls, not just when it flies. God knows when you fall and He still cares about you. He celebrates when you fly. How many times does God say not to fear: every time you are afraid.
Jesus cares about your troubles. Jesus died for us, not sparrows. Rest in His control over all things. You can trust Him with your life. Jesus cares about everything in your life.
We have a promise from Jesus: “That out of our hearts (belly) will flow rivers of living water.” These words were spoken to people who felt spiritually dry, empty and defeated. Jesus promised a river. Not a trickle or a stream. The Holy Spirit moves in us like a mighty river giving life wherever it flows.
The Holy Spirit unleashes your Spiritual Vibrancy: A river is full of stored energy and vibrancy is the state of being full of energy and life.
Isaiah 40: 29: “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” The Holy Spirit will unleash vitality into your very being.
The Holy Spirit Unleashes your Living Faith
Living faith is dynamic, active, growing, good fruit-producing, full of love, full of conviction, and full of repentance. Faith is like the wind. We cannot see the wind, but we can see its effects. The Holy Spirit will unleash your faith to a higher dimension.
Unleash the River of living water. The Scriptures direct us not to quench the Spirit of God. When the word “quench” is used in Scripture, it is speaking of suppressing fire: a Fireline. A fireline is our way of not allowing the fire of God’s presence to take over. We can build a dam or a "barrier that stops or restricts the flow." The Holy Spirit will unleash fire and the flow of God in your life.
Faith is like the wind and the Holy Spirit is like a river. Think of what happens when a strong wind and a river collide. Unleash the River of GOD.
