8/5/2017 A Friend of GodScriptures: James 2:23
People have a universal need for friendship. The Bible states; “2 are better than 1," and everybody needs a friend. Traits of Friendship
Abraham was the friend of God. Abraham was the specifically given this title. What does it take to be a friend of God? Abraham had his priorities right. Abraham’s priorities were not his property or possessions: God told him to leave his country and Abraham left. Lot wanted the best land and Abraham accepted whatever God would give to him.God blessed Abraham because of his cooperation. Abraham knew how to talk to God. Abraham and God did not always agree. God decided to destroy Sodom & Gomorrah. Abraham reasoned with God. Good friends can disagree but still be on the same side: Abraham refused to be disagreeable. God listened to Abraham, because Abraham listened to God. Abraham followed God’s direction. Abraham’s faith took over where reason left off. Faith helps us complete the bridge over the unknown. Abraham believed God would keep his promises and trusted God’s guidance. God & Abraham had a strong friendship because they both were willing to sacrifice all. If you need a real friend his name is Jesus. He gave His life to be your friend. When you are sad, He can cheer you up. When you are glad, He celebrates your success. “Jesus a friend that sticks closer than a brother.” Comments are closed.
