11/4/2010 A Time to IncreaseScriptures: Luke 2:52
Jesus lived a full human life and His life was not unbalanced. He was determined to develop fully and we can see in Luke, chapter two the four key areas where He develops: stature, widsom, favour with man and favour with God. Today we are going to take some time to study each of these increases and how God desires to see us grow in them: 1) Jesus increased in stature: This was His physical development, He was a tradesman: He was a carpenter. Physically He had great strength, which He exhibited when He carried His own cross. Jesus took care of His body and His lifestyle demonstrated that He valued the life He was given. 2) Jesus increased in wisdom: Jesus grew in His mental development. In Luke 2:46, Jesus is a twelve year old boy and He is found in the temple sitting among doctors listening to them and asking them questions. The Word said they were atonished at His understanding and His answers. His lifestyle demonstrated that He valued the wisdom of others. 3) Jesus increased in favour with man: Jesus connected with people's hearts and experienced social development. He controlled His emotions, He was not controlled by them! Being around Jesus had a life-changing effect, He provided: emotional healing and emotional balance. His lifestyle demonstarted that He valued the lives of others. 4) Jesus increased in favour with God: This was His spiritual development. He says in John 8:28: "I do nothing of myself." Jesus' priorities were: prayer, God's will, a willingness to wait on God, and taking time to listen. His lifestyle demonstrated that He valued the things of God. It is time for you to increase! God wants you to increase in your physical health, mental capabilites, network of friends and spiritual disciplines. Comments are closed.
