1/16/2016 An Old Sword in New HandsScriptures: 1 Samuel 17:50-51
The story of David and Goliath is a famous Bible story. Goliath is the villain, the enemies champion and the Bible calls him a giant. David is the youngest son of Jesse, a shepherd and he is sent to deliver food for his older brothers. Goliath challenges Israel: "Give me man to fight." David a young lad agrees to face the giant. David throws a stone at the giant with a sling. Many believe that the stone killed Goliath, but David killed Goliath with his own sword. Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, drew it out of the sheath and slew him and cut off his head. It was an old sword in new hands. "And take the helmet of salvation, and then sword of the Spirit, which is word of God." Ephesians 6:17. "For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the diving asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. "Hebrews 4:12 There is a generation that must learn to use the sword. No matter your age we must all face giants before we can progress forward. David had a calling, but had not faced his challenge. It was God's anointing that took the giant down, but it was the sword that finished the job. Your victories will lie in your ability to use the Old Sword. The anointing brings the possibility of a victory. But it is the sword that secures the victory. Who will take up the old sword in this hour? Comments are closed.
