8/16/2015 Home ImprovementsScriptures: Psalms 127:1-5
There are few things that always come with making home improvements: they take longer than you plan, they cost more than you figured, they are messier than you anticipated and they require greater determination and patience than you expected. Like never before our families are under attack and we are the products of our homes. To God the family structure is of critical importance, ask yourself: "how is my family doing?" The family has three main enemies: the world's system of power, greed, lust and pride, Satan and his followers, and our own flesh. The first attack on mankind was the destruction of the family unit: Satan separated the family unit from God by deceiving Adam and Eve, then the family turned on each other through their sons Cain and Abel. There are four major battles the family unit fights daily: 1) Humanistic Enlightment- this is a system of thought that centers on human beings and their value apart from God and His kingdom: teaching that abolishing the family altogether is the best thing for society. 2) Amoral Philosophy: no accountability, restraints or standards, the attidude: "I'm my own boss and I'll do what pleases me." No definitions of right or wrong, and choices are based on whatever situation people find themselves in. Actions are justified by feelings or emotions. 3) Media Invasion- Technology has removed the state of innocence from the family. 4) Secular Mindset- more things, choices, activities, but less time! We have thousands of shampoos, skin care products or television shows to choice from, but no time to spend with our loved ones. We are handed a deluge of information, which has caused constant confusion: once you learn one ability something new has come along. Is it time to make home improvements in your life? Reclaim your family; the Bible tells us: "Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it." Define the areas that need to be renovated and realize the problems, even if it hurts! Seeing ourselves can be painful, but its necessary to fix the issues. We need to wake up and be alert! Understand that God provides solutions: He has an answer to every issue we face! We cannot bury our heads in the sand. The Bible states it this way: "Except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." Be pro-active in obedience to God's Word: have an active offense against sin! Don't just play defense! Build your family God's way: if there is conflict in your family how would Jesus handle it? How did Jesus handle mistakes in His family unit? Was Jesus pro-active or re-active? When Jesus saw dysfunction He always started from a position of grace. Jesus grabbed a towel when dealing with Judas. Comments are closed.
