3/3/2017 HumilityScriptures: Chronicles 7:14
What does it mean to be humble? Does the spirit with which one approaches God actually affect their prayers? There are some common misconceptions about what humility is: Misconception 1: humility means to debase ourselves! Truth: you can realize that you are valued. Misconception 2: humility means to think lowly of self. Truth: You can understand your importance. Misconception 3: Humility is connected to self-esteem. Truth: you can have faith in yourself. Humility is about how we view others. Moses was a very humble man, while Miriam and Aaron spoke against him. Moses did not defend himself, God did. Moses demonstrated sober judgement, which is tempered and restrained reactions. He was not consumed with self-importance, self-honor or self-adornment. He did not feel he was always right in his judgement. Humility is about how we view God: He is the only one who is awesome! Humility is about raising Christ up: exalting, trusting and revering Him. Humility is about our heart attitude in response to God: we must have no barriers. We must deal with sin immediately by taking action. 'God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble," says James 4:6. Oppose means to stand against in battle: God opposes pride! It was once written about humility that it requires "eating crow: Conviction, Repentance, Obedience, Work!" Comments are closed.
