7/6/2010 Independence DayScriptures: Luke 4:16-21
In these verses, we see that Jesus makes a powerful declaration with this statement: "This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears." It was a day of fulfillment, anointed preaching, healing of the heart, deliverance, recovery, liberty and gracious words. Jesus performed spirit filled anointed activities that set people free and He has given this power and anointing to the church so that we can duplicate these spirit filled activities. How do we, the church, do this? Through four steps: 1) Preaching- This brings the good news to cheer up the hearer. The Word tells us that in this world we will face tribulation, but Jesus tells us to "be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." The church's goal is to spread the good news of Christ's overcoming power! 2) Healing of Heart- We live among brokenhearted people who are facing broken relationships, broken homes, broken health and broken finances. The Bible shows us that we can be "made whole," our goal is to help the brokenhearted be whole again. 3) Delieverance- For a person to find delieverance they must be edified. Edification is recovery and restoration, being built up again; the very opposite of sin, which offers destruction and brokenness. The church must preach deliverance to the captive: a message of recovery and liberty. 4) Gracious words- The message of Christ is a message for everyone, that touches everyone! It touches the untouchable and reaches the unreachable. It reverses what this world has done to us. It brings liberty and independence to our lives. The Lord has given us the keys to reach this world and given us a message for the whole world! We must go out and offer this message so that people can find independence and freedom that comes from our Savior! Comments are closed.
