Scriptures: Luke 13:1-9, Psalm 14:1, Luke 18:19
Suffering is part of a fallen world and we live in a world affected by sin. We are effected every day by moral evil and natural evil: sin opened the door of troubles. Suffering is unrelated to goodness. Ask yourself the question: who does God consider good? Job was the best of his generation, never giving up in spite of seemingly insurmountable suffering, and yet the title good was not given to him. Suffering does not depend upon human station or position, it happens to and effects everyone. The Word tells us that God alone is worthy to be called good. Suffering has a purpose. When we experience pain it identifies that something is wrong in our lives and we are able to recognize that change is necessary. In the Bible we read about Simon who had a cowardly side and when he was faced with trials, he became Peter, whose name translates to mean "a stone." It took trials for him to have great strength. Saul was ambitious and prideful, which caused him to do things aganist God. So he was blinded, healed and humbled and came out of the situation as Paul. Paul then became a writer of a huge portion of the New Testament. Suffering is another piece of life's puzzle. Suffering in our lives is puzzling to us until all the pieces finally fit together. Good and bad times are pieces which complete the picture. They work together to form the person we are to become. No one wants to suffer and most want to be thought of as good, but in a fallen world suffering will exist. But we must remember that Jesus has overcome the world! Suffering could be the very thing that helps you discover what you love and how you can minister to someone else. Since you are still here the puzzle is not complete, only God knows the beautiful picture your life will create when all the pieces finally come together. Comments are closed.
