11/22/2010 Take a LookScriptures: Psalm 95:1-11
Today we are going to study three directions to "take a look" at during this Thanksgiving season: First, take an upward look. The Bible tells us that "The Lord is the rock of our salvation," "the Lord is a great God," and that He is "king above all." It tells us that He holds in His hands the deep places, the hills, seas and dry land belongs to Him. Everything is created and belongs to Him. Its important that instead of looking down and focusing on our problems, we look up at the God who can solve them! When we worship, we look up with our hands raised towards Heaven allowing Him to take hold of everything we've been clutching close. Second, take an outward look. The Word tells us that we are the people of His pasture. A pasture is ground on which vegetation grows: we are living and surviving on God's land! He then says: "we are the sheep of His hand," sheep in this verse symbolizes the meek and submissive. If you will hear His voice then are you meek and submissive to His direction. Finally, take an inward look. Verse eight of the Psalm tells us "do not harden your hearts," especially in the days of trial. For forty years God grieved with a generation who hardened their hearts and He said "people can go astray in their hearts...They shall not enter my rest." During this season of Thanksgiving take the time to look upward to God and thank Him for your salvation. Look outward to the world and thank God for His provision. And look inward into your heart and thank God for all He has done in your life. Comments are closed.
