2/29/2016 The Hippos are ComingScriptures: Matthew 9: 36-38
Our reading of the harvest brings thoughts of a farm. For a farmer everything rises and falls on the harvest; at harvest time everything else becomes secondary. Why? Because the harvest waits for no man. For the farmer the harvest is the happiest time of the year. Jesus said: "The harvest truly is plenteous." Jesus was declaring that many people are ready to give their lives to Him, but the laborers are few! Jesus desires harvesters! A church without laborers for the harvest is a church without joy! In His Word, Jesus shows us that He is not pleased with fishing without catching, empty banquet tables, sowing without reaping and a missed harvest! There was a story of a man named Recall Sirolli, "an economic development expert who went to Zambia to teach the locals how to grow tomatoes. When these huge tomatoes became ripe one night 200 hippos came out of the river and they ate everything: the harvest was gone! " Not only can we miss the Harvest, but the Harvest can be stolen by another. The harvest is ready now and plenteous! We must lift up our eyes and see! People are desperate for the good news! There is a great danger of others stealing the harvest. Jesus has a "help wanted" sign for the church: who will go into His harvest? Who will go and work in His fields? Who will go fish for men and women? Who will fill up His banquet tables? We must go quickly for the hippos are coming! Remember the hippos will devour everything. Comments are closed.
