12/18/2014 The Quest to find a KingScriptures: Matthew 2:1-12
A quest is all about seeking something important and often involves a journey. Knights in the middle ages were forever taking on questions- most famously to find the Holy Grail. A scientist might embark on a quest to find the cure for cancer. A person today can go on a quest for truth, hope and eternal answers. The wise men from the East were on a quest to find the one born King of the Jews. These men were not Jews, but they did have Messianic hope. They had hope that the savior of man had come: they were willing to journey a long way to experience this hope for themselves. God gave them a light to follow as they were on their quest. They saw His star in the East: in the area of Babylon, which is the modern day Iraq. He was the King of the Jews, but God gave a light to those who had Messianic hope. The purpose of their quest was that they had come to worship. They responded with joy, gifts and worship when they found Him. Society has changed: now culture expects God to be a on a quest to find them. They want Him to explain Himself to them; our culture wants Him to give them gifts. There will always be those who are on a quest to find the King of the Jews: those who are on a quest for truth, hope and eternal answers. They have Messianic hope. They still believe that God can save their soul. They are on a journey to have a personal experience with God. Because they are on this quest Jesus will provide light. He will provide enough light to heal their spiritual blindness. He will provide enough light to complete their journey. Each person must determine the purpose of their quest. We must ask ourselves the questions: is our journey to help you get out of your problems? Is your quest just to find personal healing? Or is your journey to find the King of Kings? Is it a quest to find the Savior of your soul? So when you find Him how will you respond? Will you worship Him with joy in your heart? Will you offer Him gifts? Those who have found Him how will you respond? Do you still worship like when you first found Him? Do you still have joy in your heart? Do you still come to service to bring your gift for Him? The quest to find Jesus in this life never ends. The journey begins again with every new day! Comments are closed.
