There was a very large and beauitful tree that fell one day in a violent storm. When the tree was studied after its fall it was found that tiny insects had eaten away at the tree's core and weakened it. The weak tree was brought down by the storm, but the tree's fall started the moment the first tiny insect nested in its bark. This is exactly what impurity does in our lives: its plant small immoralities in our souls that begin to eat away at our core values and beliefs. Our society seems mastered by immoral things, but we cannot let the disease of impurity creep in. We cannot let the world master us. Purity is a gift from God! When we are baptized in the name of Jesus we are made pure by His blood and sacrifice. The principle of purity: the Bible tells us that "all things are lawful for me." Many people gain from this verse the concept of moderation: saying that we can do everything in moderation. Is that really true? Should we allow sin in moderation? Lawful truly means what is permissible. We cannot excuse sinful actions. The verse goes on to say "not all things are profitable," what we are free to do is for our advantage not our destruction. These are three integral aspects of purity God desires for our lives: spiritual purity- spiritual sin is aganist our soul, sexual purity- sexual sin is aganist our body, and mental purity- mental sin is aganist our calling. God wants our soul, bodies and minds to be pure and holy, protected from the immortalities of the world. The practice of purity comes from the verses of Proverbs 5: 1-8, where it shows that we must run from immortality. We must run from wrong situations as fast we can. We have to make the decision to protect ourselves and keep our minds clean. The purpose of purity takes us to Romans 12:1-2: where God desires for us to make ourselves living sacrifices. He wants us to be presentable and holy. The Word says that the pure in heart shall see God and that He is waiting for a bride that has no spot or wrinkle. Let's seek purity in our lives through God's forgiveness for our pasts and His direction for our futures. Comments are closed.
