12/30/2011 Tests all Christians FaceScriptures: James 1:2-4, Deuteronomy 8:2, 1 Peter 1:6-9
You cannot choose in this life if you will face trials and tests, the Bible tells us we will experience divers temptations. In these times, we are to turn our hardships into times of learning. Rough times can teach us to have patience and patience is depth of character. Modern man responds to difficultly by removing it: mountains get bulldozed or we build a tunnel right through them. Bridges are built over rivers. But in our spiritual walk there are some obstacles that do not move and cannot be skipped over. Testing is done with the purpose of discerning the quality of the objected tested: to define its worth. Trials are for the making of a true servand of God. Testings originate in the mind and will of God: to expose our weakness and deliver us from those things that hide deep within our character. Expose the things which could harm or destroy us. Deuteronomy says it this way: "And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no." Struggles come to humble us, prove us and show what is in our hearts. I Peter 1:6-9: "Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 8Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls." All Christians are destined for trials, but there are "load limits." A clay pot sitting in the sun will always be a clay pot, but when you put it in the furnace it becomes porcelian.
