4/7/2011 When Your Brook Dries Up- Week TwoScriptures: 1 Kings 17:1-7
This week's lesson is a continuation of last's week study when we read how Elijah was sent to the brook Cherith by God and after a time his brook dried up. This week we will study some of the reasons the brooks in our lives dry up. 1) To deepen our understanding of those who are hurting- what others suffer, we must suffer. Elijah had to face the drought to understand how to minister to the people. Noah was ridiculed, Joseph was rejected, Moses faced rebellion, David had to flee, Jeremiah wept, Paul endured and Jesus suffered. 2) To prove that God makes no exceptions-God is a just God and His word says: "The rain will fall on the just and the unjust." The difficulties we face our faith increasers. We will face obstacles when we try to become more than ordinary, but God uses those experiences to grow our faith. 3) For God to give us new vision- We can not just look at the effects of the drought: "we walk by faith, not by sight." No one else can see what God can see. When brooks fail many times we discover our true purpose in life. God has a purpose for every brook that dries up. Comments are closed.
